Yelagiri Hill, a popular hill station located 1,048.5 m above sea level, is situated amidst four mountains in a serene and scenic ambience; it is well known for its salubrious climate all year around. Getting to Yelagiri hilltop, you will traverse 14 hairpin bends, each of which offers a panoramic, breathtaking view of the hills and their surroundings. The seventh bend is significant, since it offer the view of the slopes of the mountain and the green forests that carpet the hill. Yelagiri is located amidst tribal villages, and the villagers’ customs, habits, and houses are unique. Yelagiri offers many exceptional opportunities for trekking and para-gliding.

Punganur Lake
This artificial lake is located in the centre of the hills and features a 15-ft high fountain in its centre. You can go boating in the Lake while the adjoin park has several recreational facilities for children as a well as a mini zoo. A herbal farm is also located close by.

Telescope House:A telescope has been installed at the entrance of the Ghat road to allow visitors to view the surrounding hills.

Jalagambarai Water Falls: Attaru River passes through the Yelagiri hills and flows down from Jadaiyanur from a height of 30 m. The fall can be reached via Thirupathur or by trekking from Nilavur. A Murugan Temple is located close by

Velavan Temple: A temple dedicated to Lord Muruga is situated on top of the hill from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the hills. A gigantic sculpture of the Gadothgajan in a freestanding posture is erected in front of this temple.

Papanasam Hydro Electric Works (46 km): The upper and lower dam and the power house are worth visiting. The waterfalls and the Papavinasar Shiva temple is of great interest. Accommodation: Tamil Nadu Electricity Board Rest House & Cottages. Kalagumalai (60 km): This is the site of the superb 5th century sculptures and frescoes created by Jains.

Sri Kasi Viswanathaswamy Temple, Tenkasi (6 km): This Shiva temple, built by the Pandyas, contains some exquisite sculptures and numerous inscriptions.

Manimuthar project (49 km): This is one of the largest power projects in Tamil Nadu. Water falls, park and swimming pool are of interest here.

Sankaran Koil (40 km): An interesting temple where the presiding deities are both is hal Shiva and Vishnu

Oanpozhil (14 km): This temple situated on top of a hillock and is dedicated to Lord Subramanya.
