Located in the Faridabad district of Haryana on the Delhi – Agra national highway, the peaceful lakeside site of Surajkund fills to bursting during the Surajkund Crafts Fair. Since its inception in 1981, this unmissed fair is an annual event has grown into a major tourist attraction in India. Artisans, artistes and tourists from the length and breadth of India flock to the this fair, which is held in the month of February 1-15 at Surajkund, situated at a distance of around 8 Kms from South Delhi The highlight of the fair is undoubtedly the display of the finest of handlooms and handicrafts from all over the country.

The Surajkund Crafts Fair has attained international status with the participation of different countries in the world including Egypt, Thailand, Brazil and the SAARC countries. The performance of folk troupes, authentic fragrances & flavors of rich cuisines and the colors of the carnival festival will surely captivate you.

Sights to See

An ideal picnic spot, the Surajkund is home to a lake surrounded by rock cut steps. Built by Rajput ruler Surajpal Tomar, Surajkund represents the rising sun. Ruins of a Sun temple lie around the lake. The complex includes a beautifully done-up Rajhans, a pool of fresh water – Siddha Kund, its waters said to have healing properties and a garden. Surajkund has now become a famous venue for the Craft-Mela held every year from 1st to 15th February, when craftsmen come from all corners of the country to display their skills and sell their handicrafts in a rural ambience.
