Kanha National Park, which forms the core of the Kanha Tiger Reserve created in 1974 under Project Tiger, is a beautiful land that is home to large number of varieties of flora and fauna in the beautiful forests. Occupying an area of 940 sq km, Kanha National Park, which inspired Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book and its memorable characters Mowgli and Baghheera is a wildlife enthusiast’s delight.

Birds species in the Park
Kanha National Park is haven for birds. Some of the birds found in the Kanha National Park are  storks, pintails, teals, pond herons, peacock, egrets, pea fowl, spur fowl, partridges, jungle fowl, quails, spotted parakeets, green pigeons, ring doves, rock pigeons, papihas, rollers, cuckoos, bee-eater, drongos, warblers, hoopoes, kingfishers, woodpeckers, orioles, finches, owls and fly catchers.

Lanji Temple/Fort 
The Fort is located at Lanji Tehsil of Balaghat. It was made by Cultury Rajwansh, which is located in Dense Forest area. The Temple and its Statutes art are of Khajuraho style. The Lanji Fort is also related with Gond dynasty. There are so many temples within Fort with lot of Statutes.

Wildlife in the Park
In Kanha National Park there is a rich diversity of vertebrates. The confines of the park support several species of tiger, gaur, bison, sambhar, chital, barking deer, black buck, black deer, chousingha, nilgai, sloth bear, mouse deer, jackal fox, hyena, porcupine, jungle cat, pea fowl, hare, python, monkey, tiger, mongoose and leopard. There are several rare, endemic and endangered species of mammals.

The museum depicts various aspects of the park and tribal culture. It remains closed on Wednesdays.
